Blog notes: Travel and Inventions

All levels

If you still don't have a holiday plan for the coming Easter or summer vacations or, simply, like to travel to unusual places, these are a couple of recommendations:

Postcard from Helsinki
Walking Hadrian’s Wall

Hadrian's Wall is a must if you like English with a different accent and prefer less tourist-flooded places and barren landscapes. Not far from this "British Great Wall" are many beautiful cities you can visit too: Durham, Newcastle and York for instance, the breeding grounds for beautiful northern accents you are unfamiliar with. Definitely an A+ destination for a week's vacation, trust me.

You can enter BBC Travel regularly, the whole site is full of interesting tips and suggestions. And for real walkers, this is the link to follow: The Walking Englishman (and woman).

Finally, a sticky feature: maybe my "chemical" students will appreciate this story of another successful invention that did not make it into its inventor's pockets.
