Below is the photograph which has just earned spanish photographer Daniel Beltrá a prestigious international photo award. It shows several pelicans affected by BP's Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010. It has a disturbing title: "Still Life in Oil" ("Naturaleza Muerta en Aceite", as a possible reading) that plays with the multiple interpretations of "Naturaleza Muerta" and "Aceite/Oleo/Crudo". In any case, it should make us think a bit just by the sight of it. For more info on Daniel Beltrá's work and his astonishing portfolio, click here.
