Today The New York Times reports that TV and film director Sidney Lumet, an honest craftsman who made some of the most powerful portraits of contemporary America, has died at 86 in New York. You can read the news here, including a fair summary of his career and most of his films.
If I had to choose one, it would be 12 Angry Men (12 Hombres sin Piedad) from 1957, for its straight depiction of human condition using bare filmic elements, and with Henry Fonda in a memorable performance. Definitely, you can't miss this one.
