... at all costs.
You know of my interest in The Wild Wild West and the stories of losers who never counted much there, particularly of the original inhabitants of the Rockies and Plains. In my childhood, the only version of the whole story was Hollywood's, epic and white-man centered, with a few stylistic exceptions from Enio Morricone and timid hints at the other side such as "Little Big Man".
Now we can see what everything originally looked like, from the eyes of a white photographer, at least. Thanks to this extraordinary collection of photographs we have a window overlooking the West, the real thing.
Shamefully, there aren't many documents telling the story as seen from the other side.
